Matthew's gospel is clearly written for a Jewish Christian audience living within the immediate proximity of the homeland itself. Matthew's is the most Jewish of all the gospels.

Scriptures
The Beatitudes Matthew (Ch 5:0-11). The beatitudes teach us what we should value in what we act out each day. The Beatitudes teach that people are blessed even in hard times because they will receive eternity in heaven.
The Sound Eye Matthew (Ch 6: 22-23). It is all about perspective in which you see the world around you. Utilise your eyes to the full potential to see the needy and the wrongdoing around us.
Judging Others (Ch 7: 1-6). “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.”
Jesus Cleanses a Leper (Ch 8: 1-5). Preferential Option for the poor and weak. Jesus teaches the crowd surrounding them that everyone deserves equal treatment and to be free of suffering. Jesus does not discriminate.

"Jesus As The New Moses"
As Moses was given Ten Commandments, Jesus presents his disciples with ten beatitudes (Matt. 5:3-12).
Jesus fasted for forty days and nights before teaching the new Law of God on a mountain (Matt. 4); Moses did the same (Deut. 9:9).
