How are input, output and storage devices used in typical applications of Computer Science?
Input
-
-
-
An automatic device, once set up, handles the whole process of inputting data. It can handle inputs much more quickly than a manual input device.
-
So in any given scenario you should consider the most suitable way of entering data into the computer.
Output
An output device is a piece of hardware that is used to output information from a computer or similar processing device. Output devices must be able to output information in a suitable format:

Storage
-
It may only need to be stored temporarily, i.e. whilst it is being used or it might need to be stored permanently so that it is available for use at a later date.
Storage media make use of three main technologies. These are magnetic, optical and flash.
Magnetic
Magnetic storage media can store a lot of data very cheaply, but are inconvenient to move around.
-
-
Optical
Optical storage media are very portable and are individually cheap, but cannot store much data.

-
-
Flash
Flash storage, or solid state storage, are a compromise between both, and have a high cost per GB.
