City-Estates
City with own government and laws, and had one main god. They were centers of trade called barter.(the trade)They developed new technologies for commerce, wheel and sail, the last one made easier to transport goods to take away or bring home.
Upper: rulers, officials, priests, merchants, landowners. Medium: farmers and skilled workers Lower:slaves

Government
Conflicts between city-estates for control of land and water. During wars priests designated temporary military leaders but some military leaders kept the power and became kings who supported priests. Priests kept rights and powers so they say to the citizens that kings were chosen by the gods.

Located on the Middle East called Fertile Crescent because it has the shape of the moon and the soil was rich and fertile. It also included Mesopotamia between the river Tigris and Euphrates, here the Sumer civilization appeared.
