How bills are passed
Step 1: A bill is proposed by a Member of Parliament. If the law is coming from the House Speaker, (?) the bill is called a Government Bill.
Step 2: Members of Parliament in the House of Commons debate the bill. If the bill passes, proceed to the next step.
Step 3: The bill goes to a committee. They are a specific, specialized group of experts that check over the bill and improve it if anything is needed
Step 4: The bill goes back to the House of Commons. Another debate and vote is held.
Step 5: The bill goes to the Senate for approval.
Step 6: The Governor General signs the bill (Royal Assent) and the bill becomes law.
