Definitions

-
The emf is the open circuit pd across the terminals of a power source – in other words, the terminal pd when no current is supplied.
-
electric field strength at a point is the force per unit charge experienced by a small positive point charge placed at that point
The lower the value of the current, the slower the rate at which the ions move. This slow speed at which the ions move along the conductor is known as the drift speed.
Kirchhoff's Law
-
In a parallel circuit, the current splits.
In a series circuit, current is the same all the way around
Loop Law
-
The total potential difference of all the components across the circuit equals the total input of the voltage in the cell.
Circuits
Parallel
The resistance will be lower than the lowest resistor. The sum of Reciprocal of all resistors taken.
Series
In series circuits, the resistance adds to give the total resistance.
Ohm's Law
If the temperature of a metallic conductor and any other physical features stay constant then the current through a wire is proportional to the potential difference across its ends. V directly proportional to I.
