most assessment tasks are concerned with focus on form
ie:
controlled/ guided writing, dictation and dicto-comp, grammatical transformation tasks, picture cued tasks, picture description, picture sequence description, vocabulary assessment tasks, ordering tasks, short-anser completion tasks
includes skills in producing appropriate vocabulary, collocations, idioms & correct grammatical features
responsive writing
assessment tasks requires learners to connect sentences into a paragraph & create a sequence of 2 or 3 paragraphs
ie:
paraphrasing, guided questions 7 answers, paragraph construction tasks, strategic options (requires outlining, drafting & revising),
form-focused attention is mostly at the discourse level, with a strong emphasis on context and meaning
imitative writing
primary concern- the form (letters, words, punctuation,& brief sentences)
secondary concern- the context and meaning
a level which learners are trying to master the mechanics of writing
ie:
copying, listening cloze selection tasks, picture cued tasks, form completion tasks, spelling tests, converting numbers & abbreviations to words, MCQ techniques, matching phonetic symbols
extensive writing
requires using all the processes & strategies of writing
ie: write an essay, a term paper, a project report or even thesis

scoring method
primary trait
if the purpose or function of n essay is to persuade the reader to do something, the score for the writing would rise or fall on the accomplishment of that function
organization, supporting details, fluency, syntactic variety, & other features will also be evaluated
