Eliciting
Is when the teacher brings out students knowledge, suggestions and ideas.
-
Disadvantages
-
There is a danger that if you elicit what you're looking for from one student you assume that the all the students in the group understand
Eliciting can take time and if time is short you may want to tell the students and quickly check they understand
Techniques for eliciting
-
Learners can elicit from each other, particularly during brainstorming activities.
Don't ask students to repeat incorrect answers, but ask a variety of students to repeat a good answer.
