Interim/Benchmark assessments are a form of formative assessments. These assessments are periodically taken throughout the school year. They are taken in order to check student progress and to see where students are in their learning. This will allow the teachers to see if their students are on track.
Benchmarks-These are taken to create measurable goals and standards for students. They allow teachers to see who needs extra guidance or who is already on track.
Reading Fluency- This can be taken after each six-weeks to track students individual reading progress. The teacher can provide a reading fluency test to individual students and monitor their progress.
Formative assessments are the process of gathering evidence of student learning and providing feedback. These assessments allow teachers to adjust instruction and provide discussion.
Observations- The teacher will walk around the room and observe the student’s behavior and work. It is an informal way to check for students understanding.
Quizzes- A short question quiz will allow the teacher to see where students are in their learning before an end of the unit test. It will allow for instructional adjustment if needed.
Summative assessments are planned assessments that take place at the end of a learning cycle. These assessments review what was previously taught and will encompass the whole unit.
Standardized Test- A formal test that will show where students are in their learning or if they are struggling. These tests are taken for a grade.

A performance assessment is an assessment that is not based on answering questions on a test. Instead, students will compete a task and it will be open-ended.
Debate- Teaches students about their own opinions and viewpoints. Students will debate a topic that they are learning about in class.

Diagnostic assessments are used as a way for teachers to plan their instruction to meet individual student's needs. These assessments are taken as a pre-assessment and will give data to teachers on where students may be struggling, or where they are exceeding.
Unit Pre-test- A teacher can give a pre-test over a unit before even starting it to see how much prior knowledge each student may or may not have.
Analysis of student work- Teachers can analysis student’s typical class assignments. This will give teachers information about the students understanding.
