1) Intra-psychic phase = "I cant stand this anymore", Involves cognitive processes thinking of how they're dissatisfied of their partner & plan for their future relationship.
2) Dyadic phase = "I would be justified to withdrawing", Involves interpersonal processes where partners talk about dissatisfaction creating anxiety & discussing lack of equity. Either they break up or try to repair their relationship.
3) Social phase = "I mean it", Breakup is made aware to family & friends, seeking support. Some friends give reassurance, judgement, secret info or try to repair the relationship. Usually no return from the breakup here.
4) Grave-depressing phase = "Its now inevitable", After math as each partner tries to remain +ve & retain social credit by blaming the circumstances on others. May change how they choose to remember how the relationship existed or just agree they weren't compatible.
