Characteristics
creativity is accepted and encouraged
the group gets a say in the decision, but ultimately the leader makes the final decision
members of the group feel included
Weaknesses
in the wrong setting, this could not function well when roles or assignments are unclear
communication can be difficult in some groups
some members may feel excluded if their ideas aren't heard
Benefits
highly productive environment
The leader is more actively participating and communicating with the staff
the group is more united and has better leadership skills
Autocratic Leadership
Characteristics
the leader creates a structure, work methods and processes :spiral_note_pad:
creativity is not a used outlet in this environment :red_cross:
decisions are controlled mainly by the authoritative figure :silhouette:
rules and clearly outlined procedures are strictly followed
Benefits
fast decision-making in difficult situations :star:
clear expectations can be effective to productivity :check:
works well in certain environments that need structure and clear procedures (ex. construction & manufacturing) :hammer_and_wrench:
Weaknesses
group members become more like followers :silhouettes:
dismisses creativity and any improvements
communication is more difficult :red_flag:
little to no group input
Laissez-faire Leadership
Weaknesses
leaders often are absent and don't finalize decisions
can lead to unproductive work days if given no instruction
doesn't allow reassurance that you are on the right track

creates good problem solving skills
leader allows group members to make executive decisions & delegate authority
requires staff with independance
Benefits
beneficial for advertising & product design
Allows group members to communicate and make decisions
allows the staff to experience and build leadership skills
