Parkinson’s Disease, Clinical Manifestations - Coggle Diagram

- - - - -Medications can help with walking, movement, and tremor.
      - -Over time the benefits of drugs diminish and do not work like they once did.
      - -The most commonly prescribed drug is Levodopa. It works best at controlling the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. It works by releasing dopamine into the brain.
      - -Another commonly prescribed drug is Sinemet. It is a mix of levodopa and carbidopa. Carbidopa allows the levodopa to work more efficiently, so you do not need to take as much levodopa.
      - -Dopamine Agonists trick the brain into thinking it is producing enough dopamine. These drugs are not as potent as levodopa/carbidopa and therefore is not used as much as levodopa/carbidopa.
- - - - -Mutations in three known genes (SNCA UCHL 1, and LRRK 2), have been reported for having dominant inheritance to Parkinson's disease.
      - -Mutations in three other genes (PARK 2, PARK 7, and PINK 1), have been found in those who have Parkinson's who also have a sibling with Parkinson's but not a parent. This is recessive inheritance.
