Advantages
Huge capacity

Fast access and retrieval times compared to others
Magnetic tape can hold data up to 30 years in the correct environment
Disadvantages
Not as portable as other technologies
Due to moving parts will eventually 'wear out' over time
Slower access than solid state drives
Can be damaged due to magnetic fields
