Beginning of the year newa MAP testing to get a basic understanding :of : students level compared to state averages.

Daily Pre-assessment

Daily pre-assessment in morning work; when learning how to address a letter correctly have students fix the mistakes by adding commas and capitalising letters where appropriate.

Students receive instant feedback when we go over the morning work collaboratively. First they will peer review each others papers. Then as a group we will see where the quotation marks, commas, and what letters need to be capitalized.

Pre-assessment is targeting reading and literacy for ELL students. High performing students in these domains are ready for writing and speaking. Students will be prepared to demonstrate more of these skills in the group.

Pow-Toon: use Pow-Toon to demonstrate an understanding of dialogue in speech based from our writing assignments in class.

Create an instructional How To video: In the video the High Performers should be narrating what their partners are demonstrating.

Average students need some support and reinforcement to use the skills being assessed competently.

Peer Tutor: Student can work with a peer of their choosing from the high performance group for a mentoring session.

Students use RAZ Kids via iPad/headphones to do guided reading practice and answer a quiz after.

Record a video of students delivering speeches that they have written based off of the writing practice prompts we do daily during our morning work.

Students demonstrate comprehension by completing a re-quiz version of the pre-assessment.

Lo Average/ Struggling students need remediation to proceed to new content / goals
