Cross link description: Wood is one of the two secondary tissue types. It is made up of secondary xylem. It can be further categorized as heartwood and sapwood, reaction wood, and by arrangement of various elements within the wood.
Cross link description: The vascular cambium is an important factor in secondary growth. Differences in where and how the vascular cambium divides differentiates normal secondary growth from several anomalous growth forms such as plants with unequal vascular cambium activity, or monocot secondary growth in which the vascular cambium arises outside of the outermost vascular bundles.
Cross link description: Although they are different, both secondary xylem and secondary phloem have axial and radial systems.
