Anti-Imperialism
Castro regarded the US' regime as "empirical" and thus objected it , as he regards this rule as oppressive.
Anti-US
The threat from the USA and frequent CIA-organizsed sabotage attacks by Batista's supporters and Cuban exiles led Castro to establish trade links with other countries to reduce dependence on the USA
Industrial interests
Castro believed that in order to set aside free trade and achieve autarky, it was important to industrialize Cuba.
Statism
Castro believed in the importance of a big, all-powerful state that would care for its citizens.
Marxism
Though initially Castro rejected Marxism, he eventually changed his mind and started promoting Marxism-Leninism and adopting policies based on this idea.
"Social justice"
Castro subscribed to the idea that due to there being different social classes, lower classes were at a disadvantage and should be helped more so than the upper classes
Vanguardism
Strategy whereby the most class-conscious and politically advanced sections of the proletariat or working class form organizations in order to draw larger sections of the working class towards revolutionary politics
Foquismo (Foco)
