The interrogatives of the Simple Past are made with the auxiliary verb Did (past of Do), accompanied by the main verb in the infinitive without to.
To form an interrogative sentence in Past Simple, did was used before the subject. The verb remains in the infinitive without "to", since in Simple Past the verb is not inflected in any person, repeating itself in all of them. Look: Did he call me yesterday? (Ele me ligou ontem?)
