When he went the Galapagos Islands, he saw many types of finches, a type of bird. He thought that these finches evolved from the original Galapagos finches, depending on the condition they lived. Since all of the finches didn't live in the same place, he thought about habitats and food. Expected, some characteristics used for hunting like the beaks, alternated between them. he thought this was because different finches from the different places ate different things and had different ways to get it. And because the places had a distance, the birds didn't mix with other finches. Natural selection, was the name Darwin came up with to explain this. Natural selection is when a characteristic stays on a species as an advantage which is evolved from many years. The characteristics is specified because finches would have to try to get food in order to survive. Those finches with traits that have more advantage will be able to live longer and reproduce. By reproducing, that trait will be passed on. Because the ones without the advantages start dying out, the gene for that trait soon disappears from the gene pool. This can make one species to strictly have a characteristic in order to live.
