Unit Overview
Rationale
I am designing this unit to inform students of the necessity to practice multiculturalism and veer away from racism, by understanding the negative effects this has on an individuals sense of belonging. It is to enable students to develop and discover their identity as they grasp the many dimensions that make up an individual. By educating students of the historic and religious influences upon an individuals sense of belonging, students will better understand the contemporary social issues which will be discussed as a way of forcing students to acknowledge the detriment these have on allowing multicultural individuals to feel a sense of belonging. Essentially, by creating this unit students will "They recognise the characteristics of respectful relationships and the importance of belonging and connecting with others" (NESA, 2018, p. 22).
