Definition: The powers of government are divided between the national government and the states.

Definition: The people have supreme power
4: Separation of Powers
Definition: The powers of government are separated by the legislative, executive, and judicial branches.
5: Checks and Balances
Definition: The power of each branch of government to look over the actions of the other two branches.
6: Judicial Review
Definition: The power of the courts to review the actions of the Executive and Legislative branches to determine if their actions are constitutional.
