His voice ranges in many octaves, especially when he yells. This makes him incredibly lively and spirited.
Schmidt outbursts often intimidate those who don't know or understand him well, this is often a self-presentation strategy that isn't used often.
In terms of pursuing women and hook ups, he takes on different personas that usually do not work out. This is usually coined as the phrase "douche-bag," when Schmidt does or says something that feels rude, snobby, or just should not be said in general, he has to put money in the "Douche-bag Jar" (similar to the idea of a swear jar).
Dramatic
Schmidt's unreasonable reactions to the littlest of problems not only demonstrates his need for perfection, but also showcases how dramatic he can be. Any small inconvenience can turn into a major issue, he blames this on growing up with a demanding mother.
The need for drama also stems from his chaotic friendships. All of his friends produce different dynamics in terms of their own personal relationships and friendships. His dramatic behavior is also a byproduct of their chaos.
When's out attempting to hit on girls, he often uses ingratiation in order to charm women in finding him appealing. This is often due to making up sob stories or showering them with compliments.
Hyper Critical
As a child, Schmidt was severely overweight and insecure about it. In college, he lost a lot of weight and got into shape. After he "reinvented" himself, he became judgemental of others.
Schmidt is highly impatient and restless, this makes him even more critical of people's actions when people don't operate at the same caliber as him.
Schmidt is highly materialistic. A lot of things he gloats about and cherishes are beauty products, clothes, and others high-end things he has purchased. He greatly links his status to materialistic items.

He often takes pride in working a "real job" at a Marketing company he sees this line of work as leading towards wealth and success
He often measures himself by his career success, despite not being an executive within his company, the comparison to his friends is enough satisfaction.

Witty
His sense of humor is incredibly sarcastic, as his friends make some questionable comments, he provides rationale as well as comic relief
He has a pretty extensive vocabulary and is fairly bright; this makes his insults to his friends and strangers clever and amusing
Schmidt's a hilarious character because his humor and silly quirks provide him with a unique personality that is slightly crazed, but still loveable.
Perfectionist
Schmidt is known for being incredibly meticulous over his living space, hobbies, and possessions,
He does all of the cooking, cleaning, and shopping with the loft (Where him and his friends live). Although these are all tasks that should be shared between roommates, he likes things done in a particular way, therefore he does them all himself.
Within his friend group he is considered the cook and maid in the loft, His friends praise of that inflates his self esteem, as he feels like a sole caretaker.
He loves planning events and will go above and beyond to make any party, gathering, or outing memorable. He through a party from him and his bestfriend Nick for their 10 year anniversary of living together
Egocentric
Although Schmidt shows immense growth throughout the show, he still shows moments of self-obsessive behavior. This is demonstrated through pursuing romantic relationships and his work environment.
In relationships he often took up a lot of emotional space, which was an issue for him throughout the show. His problems were often the center of attention.
He believes his line of work is more important than his roommates jobs (teaching, bartending, and temp).

Friendships
His relationship with his best friend Nick started when they were roommates in college. Schmidt deeply values his friendship with Nick and often shows his care through joking physical affection, concern for his health and life choices, and their similar sense of humor.
Schmidt's main social group are his friends. His self-concept of social groups is limited to his sole groups of friends, his colleagues, and his group of friends from high school.
Although Schmidt's friends are very important to him, he often downwards socially compares their lifestyles.
His friendships mean the world to Schmidt, as he didn't grow up with a big family. Their personalities all conflict, but ultimately they have such a deep level of love for one another.
Schmidt shows his affection through material gifts (party buses for birthdays), being critical of them when their life choices aren't beneficial towards them, and through a mutual understanding of boundries within terms of relationships and personal space.
Romantic Relationships
Incredibly supportive of his partners and is encouraging towards their careers aspirations and personal goals.
Schmidt doesn't show a lot of patience with many people, but does show a great deal of patience and understanding with his long term girlfriend, Cece.
His commitment to showing affections and care for his partners goes a long way. He will stop at almost nothing to show the level of admiration he feels towards his love interest.
Family
Schmidt was raised by a single mom on Long Island. He was raised in a Jewish household and although doesn't outwardly practice, he does celebrate major holidays
Culture is a powerful social situation and has a strong influence on our self-concept, Schmidt's Long Island-Jewish community holds a lasting influence on Schmidt's behavior and upbringing.
His Dad left his Mom and him when he was a child. From this he developed an incredibly close relationship with his mother.
His Dad leaving gave Schmidt a lot of abandonment issues, he strongly clings the idea of having a family of his own and being a more dedicated father than his dad was.
