What is PTSD
A disorder characterized by difficulty in recovering after experiencing or witnessing a frightening and traumat event.
The condition can last for months or years, with triggers that can bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions.
Symptoms include nightmares or flashbacks, flight from situations that recall trauma, overreactions to stimuli, anxiety and depressed mood.
Treatment includes different types of psychotherapy, as well as medications to treat the symptoms.
