Rahman Talib Report 1960
The Rahman Talib's report was made to review the education policy in 1960 and became a basis to establish the Education Act 1961.
To speed up the process of national intergration and unity.
Emphasis on Malay language as main language in schools and reintroduction of the 'ultimate objective'.
Standard schools become national schools while standard-type schools turned into national-type schools.
Education Act 1961
The Razak Report 1956 was suited in education system by Rahman Talib Report 1960 and then become the Education Act 1961.
Empowering the national language as main medium of instruction.
The establishment of common curriculum for all students.
Teacher must be well-trained and education aids were provided.
Emphasis on moral values.
Aminuddin Baki Report 1964
Students that have completed their studies will be provided various job opportunities that is suitable with them.
Provide various courses in education for students to choose, thus creating a creative and innovative new generation.
Lower secondary education for a period of 3 years must be included in the education policy in accordance with the new policy that students can only quit school when they reach 15 years old.
Cabinet Committee Report
Chaired by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and was formed in 1974.
To study the implementation of the National Education policy.
To improve the conditions and quality of the educational system.
To fix a system of education that is flexible to current development.
Consequent to this report, the New Primary School Curriculum (KBSR) was launched in 1983 and the New Secondary School Curriculum (KBSM) in 1989.
Education Act 1996
To further consolidate the national education system for the young generation in accordance with the country's aspirations of making Malaysia a center of excellence for education.
National language as the main medium of language in all educational institutions in the National Education System except National-type schools or any other educational institution exempted by the Minister of Education where national language should be taught as a compulsory subject.
Educational institutions were categorised into government educational institutions, government-aided educational institutions and private educational institutions.
