TYPES OF ORGANIC REACTION - Coggle Diagram
TYPES OF ORGANIC REACTION
SUBSTITUITION
One atom or a group of atoms is substituted by another atom or group of atoms to form a new substance
2 type of reactive partners
Nuclephile ( rich with electrons )
Electrophile ( Poor with electrons )
Example:
ELIMINATION
The removal of the adjacent atoms. When the multiple bonds are formed, small molecules will be release as products.
Atoms or groups of atoms leaving the molecule
2 classification
Reaction rate propotional to the concentration of the substance to be transformed
Reaction rate is propotional to the concentration of both substrate and the eliminating agent
Example:
ADDITION
Two components are added to the carbon - carbon multiple bonds to form a single product. Occurs with unsaturated compounds.
Reverse reaction of elimmination
2 types of addition reaction.
Nuclephilie addition ( double & triplebond broken )
Electrophilie addition ( Donatable pair of electrons )
Example:
REARRANGEMENT
Carbon skeletal of a molecule is rearranged to give structural isomer of the original molecule. Often a substituent moves from one atom to another atom in the same molecule.
3 types of rearrangement
Pericyclic - shift of electrons
Claisen - isomerization of ally arylethers to ortho allyated phenols
Bechmann - conversion of oxime to an amide
Example:
