nucleotides:
-a phosphate group
-a molecule of the pentose sugar deoxyribose
-a nitrogen containing organic base
-there are 4 different types of nucleotides:
-purines: guanine and adenine
-pyrimidines: cytosine and thymine
polynucleotides:
-DNA:
-carries the information that codes for the characteristics and behaviour of a cell
-it codes for the correct sequence of amino acids in a polypeptide
-a polynucleotide made of nucleotide monomers connected by phosphodiester bonds
DNA replication:
-at first 3 thoeries were produced:
-the conservative model (middle)
-the semi-conservative model (left)
-it was later confirmed that the semi-conservative model was correct from the meselson and stahl experiment
-the dispersive model (right)
