Climate Change
Trees help to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere so when they are cut down the benefit is lost and carbon dioxide is released into the air (Causes of climate change - Climate Action - European Commission, 2020).
Many greenhouse gases are on Earth naturally but human activity has been making it worse (Causes of climate change - Climate Action - European Commission, 2020). Gases such as: Carbon dioxide, Methane, Nitrous oxide and Fluorinated gases (Causes of climate change - Climate Action - European Commission, 2020).
Since the middle of the 20th Century scientist have observed that human activity is the most common cause of global warming and climate change (Causes of climate change - Climate Action - European Commission, 2020).
Some gases in Earth act like glass in a greenhouse, trapping in heat and not allowing it to escape into space (Causes of climate change - Climate Action - European Commission, 2020).
Humans are consistently affecting the earth’s temperature by burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and farming livestock, which adds to the natural greenhouse gases and global warming (Causes of climate change - Climate Action - European Commission, 2020).
