Common properties of Living Organisms
Homeostasis
All living things maintain a stable internal environment called homeostasis.
Cellular Structure
All living things are made up of one or more cells
Prokaryotik
Organisms with no nucleus and no membrane bound organelles.
Eukaryotik
These cells have nucleus and membrane bound organelles.
Metabolism
Catabolism - the breakdown of molecules to obtain energy.
Anabolism - the synthesis of all compounds needed by the cells.
Adaptation
Adaptation is the evolutionary process whereby an organism becomes better able to live in its habitat or habitats.
Respire
It is the way that energy is released from glucose so that all the other chemical processes needed for life can happen.
Sensitivity
Living things detect and respond to events in the world around them.
Nutritions
The process of taking in food and using it for growth, metabolism, and repair.
Organization
The act of arranging in a systematic way for use or action.
Excretion
Excretion is a process by which metabolic waste is eliminated from an organism.
Movement
Movement is when the living organism moves a body part or parts to bring without a change in the position of the organisms.
Reproduction
Reproduction is the biological process by which new individual organisms offspring are produced from their parents.
Growth and Devlopment
Growth simply means an increase in size and mass of a particular organism over a period of time.
Development is defined as a process wherein a particular organism transforms itself from a lone cell into a more complicated multicellular organism.
