BUNSEN BURNER

-
-
-
-
-
LUMINOUS FLAME:
With air-holes closed, a yellowish luminous flame is produced
With too little air, the gas mixture will not burn completely and will form tiny carbon particles that are heated to glowing, making the flame luminous.
NON-LUMINOUS FLAME;
With partially opened air-holes, a bluish flame results
-
STRIKE BACK
-
With too much air, the flame may burn inside the burner tube; that it, it may strike back
-

-
LAB APPARATUS
For heating and boiling
-
Wire gauze: To support a container (such as a beaker or flask) during heating. When the Bunsen Burner flame is beneath it, the wire gauze helps to spread the flame (and heat) out evenly over the container.
