Week 1- COMPONENTS OF SCIENCE TEACHING
Instruction
With the use of technology
Students were able to further develop there 21st century learning skills.
students can be globally competitive because they have literacy in technology
bloom's digital technology helps both teachers and students to enhance their skills in technology because it allows them to create more.
Types of Instruction
Teacher-centered
direct instruction
the teacher is the one bossing the classroom, teacher do all the talking and students are just followers
Learner-centered
Indirect instruction
students are given the opportunity to discover answers for themselves. Kinesthetic and tactile learners enjoy this type.
Interactive instruction
from the given word, the students are encourage to interact and share their idea with their classmates to come up with an new understanding
Experimental interaction
focuses more on the process of acquiring knowledge rather than the outcome itself.
Independent instruction
this type allows learners to develop their decision making skills with the guide of his or her teacher.
Alterative delivery mode
Online learning
These type of learning takes place in e-space or with the use of technologies and learning websites.
Distance (remote ) learning
Synchronous
this happens in zoom, gmeet and other sites that allow the teacher and students to work together and learn at the same time.
asynchronous
on the other hand, in asynchronous, teachers gives task that students have to accomplish in their most convenient time but there is still a set due date.
Flexible learning
this type of learning allows the student to choose how, what, when and where the learning takes place. usually it is facilitated through technology
Blended learning
it is a combination of online and typical classroom settings.
Definition
these are the activities, modules and other learning materials used to ensure the learning of a student
it also includes the strategies and techniques of teachers in teaching the topic
Assessment
Definition
it is the measurement of what the students have leaned in a lesson or topic.
it is essential so that the teachers and students can tract their learning and metacognitive levels.
it is also used to improve teachers learning methods and student learning
it also measures the effectivity of the method and techniques that teachers use in teaching
Three forms of assessment
Assessment FOR learning
refers to feed back given to students for them to improve on that specific performance task
Assessment AS learning
self-assessment of a student as to what to improve in order to understand the lesson more.
Assessment OF learning
it is the final assessment that allows the teacher, parents and students to know the overall performance and achievement of student in class.
Authentic assessment
It looks at the overall achievement, learning, attitude and other aspect of the students rather than looking at what the they do not know.
Performance task
CURRICULUM
Definition of curriculum
Blueprint of education
Guides the teacher about what to teach and how to teach it
It is compromises all the materials that is used in learning
Elements of curriculum
Aims, goals and objectives
these are the set learning expectations and developed skills for the students to achieve at the end of a period or lesson.
content and performance standard
these are the knowledge, skills and understanding that the students have acquired during a period of time
learning competencies
these are specific skills, knowledge and performance standard related to the subject that students need to achieve
check for learners understanding or evaluation
use of assessment to check the learning progress of students is necessary
references
list of books, journals or any materials should be cited.
Importance of curriculum
guides the students as to what to achieve
it guides the student and teacher about that essential things to learn, knowledge and life-long skills
develops the metacognitive skills and reasoning of students
