Conflict and Peace
Activity 5
Q1) This article highlights the issue of UK pilots along with Canadian and American allies taking part in military action including air strikes in Syria without consent, this incident took place in 2013 and as this conflict took place between countries, it is an international conflict.
Q2) The national conflict raised in this article was that the UK pilots went against there own country’s policy and word, the parliament members declared that the defence team of UK would not conduct any mock strikes in Syria, however the defence team went against them and did the task anyway. This caused national unrest making this issue a national conflict.
Q3) A country should work systematically, and all policies should be studied before taking any action. There are constant international disputes for many reasons and that is why it is vital that a country as a whole works together, to maintain peace. If there is internal unrest then the ruling government would not be able to focus on the international conflict, and would be tied up with everlasting internal matters. This is why we believe that it was wrong for the British troops to go ahead with the mission despite the fact that there was a democratic vote taken which declared that they are not suppose to go ahead with the task. The defence team should have informed the parliament and should have held a meeting to discuss the same and should certainly not have taken such an impulsive decision as all this only showed how undirected and disorganised the British system of ruling was.

Q4)
United States of America : There is a major difference between the perspectives between the people and the government thereby creating an internal crisis. The current government is quite ignorant towards social issues and they prioritise the nation's economy and military strength
India (Delhi NCR) : The government currently claims to be working towards making situation better for the people therefore making the country more citizen centric. The people's perspectives are usually very diverse keeping in mind the varied population, however, the whole country unites in rise against a major injustice

Q5) We have mentioned the Hathras case in the previous questions, the incident this case is based on is distressing more than it is interesting, since this case highlights brutality faced by a Dalit woman. There are numerous other incidents that have taken place in India, however we chose this as it is relatively newer and the protests it gave rise to are still taking place. This issue is definitely suitable for a team project as one person cannot combat such an issue, however this topic is extremely sensitive and might trigger many, therefore any action or comment passed should be evaluated and all the people working along with others should respect the family of the victims and not take any unwanted action.
Q6) What are some solutions that you believe can help combat the issue you have considered so far? Why do you believe that these solutions could work or will work?
