Formative
Definition: a range of formal and informal assessment procedures conducted by teachers during the learning process in order to modify teaching and learning activities to improve student attainment
Bell Work/Exit Ticket: Students will answer questions that are from the day before lesson and lesson from the day.

Summative
Definition: are used to evaluate student learning, skill acquisition, and academic achievement at the conclusion of a defined instructional period

Personal Essay: students will write an essay over a unit to show their understanding and mastery of a unit.
Performance
Definition: a form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list
Projects: Students will create a project depending on the lesson. In can be to prove a hypothesis and students will have to create something.
Debates: students will go head to head with other students to debate over particular parts of a lesson. In doing debates, it shows the students mastery and understanding of the lesson

Diagnostic
Definition: a form of pre-assessment that allows a teacher to determine students' individual strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills prior to instruction

KWL Chart: students write out what the know, what they still want to know, and what they've learned. Assesses what students already know before teaching a lesson.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: use to (1) evaluate where students are in their learning progress and (2) determine whether they are on track to performing well on future assessments, such as standardized tests or end-of-course exams
District Assessments: students take a district assessment to determine all they have learned in a nine week period.
STAAR: students take a STAAR test to test their knowledge over everything they have learned for the year.
