HMW design a
_
to treat tendinopathy for telehealth-based PT:
Pedal
two spring attachments for the toe and the heel. Ball and socket joint in the middle allows for flexion, extension, and radial rotation of the ankle.
HMW make the pedal
Ball joint so base can move in 2 DOF
Springs to hold in base in neutral position
two separate rotating joints
One for vertical, one for horizontal place
HMW handle the data
Control module
BT
battery
MCU
HMW measure ROM
Accelerometer on base
gyroscope on base
HMW measure forces
Take the angle using acceleromter
Spring constant, force is related to distance traveled
Smart Tape
HMW make the tape
Take a piece of athletic training tape and attach it to a piece of soft elastic fabric
Use a KT tape
Summary
uses a smart tape (that includes a plug, strain gauge, and elastic) that calculates the ROM measurements in the attaching control box (electric device that reads sensor signals, battery, bluetooth, MCU and also has a plug adapter)
aimed to work for flexion or extension stretches
HMW transmit data
A control box can be attached around a strap on the leg, the sensors on the tape plug into the control box
The tape itself has the components glued on top
HMW measure forces
Strain gauges are implemented into multiple points of the tape
A rope is attached to one of the end tape, a tension sensor attached to the other end. When the ankle is flexed, the rope/cable will extend
HMW measure ROM
Gyroscope implemented into tape
Use strain gauge relationships to calculate strain
Accelerometer implemented into the tape
HMW we integrate the sensors in the tape
Two layers of fabric with sensors wedged between
Pockets to place the sensors that make the sensors also removable
Pulley/Resistance Band
HMW handle the data
pulley system has control box built into one of the structure frames
Contains bluetooth and MCU
Data transmitted to computing device vs BT
HMW measure ROM
Odometer inside of pulley
Length of rope relates to angle of foot
Accelerometer/gyro on the cable
Accelerometer/gyro on the ankle strap
HMW measure forces
Pulley is suspended by a strain gauge so it measures downward force
Uses regular sized weights that are manually added
User inputs (into app) how much weight was added
HMW make the pulley structure
Composed of top and bottom piece
Top: Upper pulley, contains strain gauge to measure downward force
Also has the control box to relay odometer and strain data
Lower: Has lower pulley attached to the foot
Smart Sock
HMW measure ROM
Accelerometers/gyroscopes placed at key areas
HMW integrate the sensors into the sock
Control box with MCU, battery, BT
Has to be waterproof
Non-removable
HMW measure forces
Pressure sensors at key area on the foot
Strain sensors interwoven in the fabric
HMW we handle the data
Data can be used to track gait, extension forces, and ROM
Relayed in real time via control box
Connected to phone or computer via BT
