Connective
Cartilage
Cartilage very tough, yet flexible, tissue. It is mainly used to cushion bones and joints, but also form some structures such as our ears.
Blood
Blood is a tissue found everywhere in the body. It's primary function is to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from other tissues, as well as other molecules and cells.
Adipose
This tissue is most commonly used to store energy in the form of fat. This tissue can be found everywhere on the body.
Bone
Bone is a very solid tissue used for structure, protection, movement, and anchors for muscle. Bones are found everywhere in the body.
Epithelial
Columnar
The most common function of columnar tissue is protection. It is most commonly found in the digestive system, it lines the stomach to protect the body from stomach acid. It is also permeable to some ions, which is very important in the colon.
Cubiodal
Due to it's cubed shape, this tissue is very efficient at absorbing and secreting.
Squamous
Most commonly found in the lungs, squamous tissue is a very thin tissue used to filter or diffuse molecules passing through.
Muscle
Cardiac
Cardiac muscle tissue is only found in your heart and is what controls the involuntary muscle contractions in your heart which pump blood all throughout your heart.
Smooth
Smooth muscles are also involuntary muscle tissues in your body. Similar ot cardiac tissues, they regulate functions in most of you internal organs via contractions mainly.
Skeletal
This tissue is the one primarily used to control the skeleton for movement. It is attached to every bone in the body.
Nervous
Nervous tissue is found in your brain, spinal cord, and nerves all throughout your body. They stimulate muscle contractions for movement, and stimulate your senses.
