Crash course kids-Columbus, De Gama, and Zheng he.
Christopher Columbus
Columbus had used a technique called "Dead reckoning" where you find out where you are, based on three different things. (Speed, time, and the direction you are headed, with hourglass.)
-
Columbus didn't think he would end up making it to China, instead he thought he made it to Indonesia.
For Columbus's first Journey, he had made it to a small Caribbean island, he had named San Salvador, in search of Gold and christians.
Columbus' crew and himself had known that the earth was round. The only thing Columbus was wrong about was the size of earth, by overestimating how big Asia was, and underestimated the size of oceans.

Zheng had also led over 300 ships, and had a crew with over 27,000 PEOPLE!
-
Zheng had guided Seven voyages through the Indian ocean, of these ships called "treasure ships".
Zheng had brought back MANY Rhinos, Giraffes and zebras!

The voyages had soon end and one reason why is since Zheng had passed away. His patron had also died, so that was another reason why they put it to an end.
