Rahman Talib support the Razak Report and this report was meade to review the education policy in1960
Education Act 1996
aims : -to further consolidate the national education system for the young generation in accordance with the country's aspirations of making Malaysia a centre of excellence for education
-to outline the legislation related to education.
3 general legislative provisions
Consolidation of National Education System :
All levels of schooling (pre-school until tertiary education)
All categories of schools
National language become the main medium of instruction under the national education system.
The National Philosophy of Education which was proclaimed in 1988 & forms the underlying basis
Aminuddin Baki Report 1964
Led by Aminuddin Baki, under National Education Commitee
Contents of the report :
Various courses for lower secondary schools were introduced.
After primary school, education for 3 years in lower secondary school is a must to extend the age of school resignation, which is 15 years old.
Prepare suitable government position for those who had completed their education
Variety of courses provided to produce skilled society

Content is similar as the Rahman Talib Report 1960
Contents of Education Act 1961
Schooling until age of 15 years old for continuation school
15 Muslim students to start religious class, teacher will be provided from Standard 3 upwards to secondary schools with at least 15 pupils.
Emphasis on Moral Values
Primary school become SK and SJK
Provided trained teachers and education aids
No fees for lesson in primary school
Empowering the national language
The establishment of common curriculum.
Cabinet Committee Report
Cabinet Committee was chaired by Dr Mahathir Mohamed,also the deputy Prime Minister formed in 1974.
Objective of the report :
to review the goals and effectiveness of the present education system for the purpose of meeting the manpower needs of the country, both for the short and long terms.
To ensure the education system meets the country’s goals of producing a united disciplined and skilled society
