XVIII century technical advances
1709Piano: The first piano was built in Italy by Bartolomeo Cristofori. One of the differences with its predecessor, the harpsichord, was that you could change the volume. This is reflected in the name Cristofori gave to his instrument: gravicembalo col piano e forte (harpsichord with soft and strong). Composers like Chopin, Liszt and Beethoven were the ones who enriched the piano music, considered the king of keyboard instruments.
