The closure causing an increase in poverty, crime, homelessness, drug use, and high unemployment. The area is now being gentrified which many people are protesting because it hurts low-income residents and changes the culture of the area.

        Container Ship: A large ship that carries containers filled with goods. The ships are used for easy transportation and to efficiently load and unload the containers at ports.
    - - Examples: Railroads and the internet.
    - - Village: Trade is limited to the wealthy, transportation is poor, and ideas are slow to migrate
      - World Trade: Goods are consumed globally, railroads and canals connect the world, areas become specialized but products are all made in one place, and ideas are not widely spread
      - Information/Communication Revolution: Information is easily available everywhere, the global supply chain is created where different components of products are made in different places, and there is a wider variety of products and ideas.
