CAS
CREATIVITY
MEANS
Taking up a creative project or activity that you enjoy, allowing you to destress and have fun be it through music, art, dance etc. Expressing oneself through a creative means
FUN
creativity doesn't have to be limited to just playing an instrument or drawing, you can write poems or short stories, design a fashion line, create websites etc. As long as you're working on and creating something you enjoy, making it original or unique to you in a sense, its creative.
LEARNING
It's important for us to use our brains not just in an academic sense but also creatively, to think up melodies or dances or think about colors go best with what etc. For example, playing an instrument improves your focus, hand-eye coordination, muscle memory to name a few things.
-
SERVICE
MEANS
Helping out in your local or global community be it through fundraisers, raising awareness on specific issues, creating plans to combat problems etc.
FUN
Working together with a group of people who care just as much about you on a cause is. fun. Knowing that you're working to make a difference in the world to help somehow even if it doesn't reach people globally is still fun. Especially in a world where it seems like there are new problems everyday and old ones are exacerbated by the minute, knowing that you're doing something to change that brings about a sense of satisfaction and pride in what you're doing.
LEARNING
As IB [international baccalaureate] students we have a responsibility to help those around us, be it in our local communities where we live, our community back in our home countries, and our global community. The learner profiles aim to promote international mindedness and global engagement and we can not call ourselves IB students if we are not actively engaging with our global community to make a change for the better.
-
ACTION
MEANS
Being mobile and active in our day to day lives, ensuring that in addition to using our brains in school we make sure not to neglect our bodies. Taking daily runs, playing in a team sport, maintaining an exercise routine etc.
FUN
Sports are fun! Playing a game with a team, communicating, scoring points together or running on your own, letting yourself clear your mind etc. are all different ways people have fun. People often describe the rush of adrenaline and satisfactoin they get after completing a hard workout routine or scoring a point as a team and that feeling of completion is what makes sports and being active so fun.
LEARNING
The IB is a strenuous 2-year course, and many students struggle to find healthy ways to work off the stress or unwind. Sports and activity can be the perfect outlet, getting some adrenaline and blood pumping through your veins is a good way to help reset your brain and refresh your mind after studying for a while. In addition, many students neglect their physical health while doing the IB, more focused on their studies than anything and so having a mandatory active task is a good way to ensure that they're taking care of themselves
