Medical cases
Veterinary nurse
Provide emergency first aid
Assess the patient's vital signs
Place an intravenous catheter and collect samples (blood, urine, skin, faeces, hair)
Administer medication and fluid therapy under the direction of the veterinary surgeon
Prepare for daily procedures
Provide care by feeding, cleaning, bathing and grooming
Monitor and record all changes and improvement on patient's health and report to the veterinary surgeon
Administer sedative, analgesic or other agents before during or after surgery under the direct and continue supervision of a veterinary surgeon

POM-VPS (Prescription only medication-veterinary, pharmacist and suitable person qualified person [sqp]) can be prescribed by the veterinary surgeon, a pharmacist or SQP to an animal that is under their care or in some occasions when any of these has made no clinical assessment
POM-V (Prescription only medication-veterinary) should be prescribed by the veterinary surgeon only after carrying a clinical assessment of the animal
Keep record of controlled drugs and keep them in a locked cupboard
Veterinary nurse and student veterinary nurse
Dispense medications under direction of the veterinary surgeon
and get them counter signed
Administer medications under the supervision of a veterinary nurse and a veterinary surgeon
Inform the client how to administer the medication and their side effects
Inform client of an unlicensed or harmful medication and provide gloves or take consent
Reception
Dispense medications under the direction of the veterinary surgeon
Take a signed consent form for unlicensed medication
Provide the client with information of how to administer medication / provide data sheets
Keep the pharmacy clean and safe to work in
Date check, date rotate and order new stock
Keep the pharmacy o the correct temperature
If any of the receptionists is an SQP or a Pharmacist:
• POM-VPS (prescription only medication-veterinary, pharmacist and suitable person qualified person [sqp]) can be prescribed by a pharmacist or SQP to an animal that is under their care or in some occasions when any of these has made no clinical assessment

Not allowed to dispense or administer any medications
Assist reception with cleaning of the pharmacy
