Racist advertisement: The insensitive Chinese laundry advertisement had a strong racial undertone, promoting colorism. The advertisement showed the black man being washed in the washing machine and came out lighter, the girl only took an interest in the man after he got washed and “cleaned”, this suggests that black skin is not something to be proud of, that black skin is unattractive and is something that needs to be sanitized. That laundry advertisement was not only racially insensitive but it was blatantly being racist. They do not understand blackness and the struggles that come with being a black skin man/woman, This advertisement reveals a universal bias of how the general society treats light-skinned people better, and there is this favoritism that comes with race and skin color.
