Source-Based Questions, Structured Response Questions - Coggle Diagram

        Source A challenges Source B by saying that ... (the point must be the exact opposite of what source B says)

        Important to have evidence and explanation to support 1 & 2

        Detect for points of view to
        see if a person is biased
        
        Balanced views: If he consider both sides of an argument -> not biased -> reliable
        
        One-sided: only negative or positive sides -> biased -> not reliable
        
        Facts/ opinions - if he is factual -> not biased -> reliable
        
        Language/ choice of words/ tone: certain words convey a certain mood - eg. emotive words is to evoke a certain response
        
        Emotive language is the deliberate choice of words to bring out emotion from readers
        
        Emotive language often aims to persuade the reader or listener to share the writer or speaker's point of view, using language to stimulate an emotional reaction
        
        Because of this ulterior motive or agenda, the source is definitely not reliable
      - A person who is biased/ or have ulterior
        motive cannot be trusted (unreliable)
      - Using provenance
        and/ or BI to evaluate
        
        Authorship to establish purpose -> who is he/she? Why is he/she saying this? What is his purpose? Is there an ulterior motive?
        
        Context (issue of the case study, when where) to establish motive/ ulterior motive/ purpose -> when and where did the person says this and why? What significant event took place? Do this reveal anything about his purpose?
    - - Stand must include inference. Use evidence from the source to make relevant inference. Eg. Source A is reliable in saying that ...
      - Support stand with Evidence and explanation
      - State a stand/ answer statement/ point to begin the paragraph
