Classic Forms of Government
Republic: population votes for a small group to make a decision.
Totalitarian: much like authoritarian but you do have some freedoms such as freedoms within your household.
Anarchy: a country ran on no government control at all.
Oligarchy: small group of people rule the country
Authoritarian: controls every aspect of a civilian's every day life and there are no freedoms.
Theocracy: a government ran on religious beliefs
Monarchy: authority is passed down through bloodlines
Democracy: everything is decided by the civilians through voting
Styles of Sovereignty
Unitary: one government has sovereignty
Confederacy: Collection of Unitarian Government
Unitarian governments maintain solitary, but unify for specific reasons
Federal: a group of governments have a control over the people
Styles of Complete Control Governments
Totalitarian: mostly complete control but you have a little bit more freedom then Authoritarian governments
Theocracy: all power comes from the church
Authoritarian: complete control over the population
Monarchy: all power is handed down through birth right or family
Oligarchy: A small group of upper class officials have control over the people
Governments Where People Have a Say
Republic: majority of people vote for a representative to carry out laws and plolicy
Democracy: majority vote for everything including policies and laws
Presidential and Parliamentary governments
Parliamentary: legislative elects a representative
Presidential: the people elect a representitive
