Theme: Moral of story. ex: motherhood, love etc
genre: category of story Ex: non-fiction
plot:the main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence. Ex:falling in love with your best friends brother.
Tone:general character or attitude of a place, piece of writing, situation. Ex: yelling loudly.
personification:a figure intended to represent an abstract quality Ex: lightning danced across the sky.
foreshadowing: warning or indication on whats going to happen. Ex: she was so worried about her cat she kept mentioning it.
motif: recurring subject, theme, idea :Ex: something in life is about to break.
Literacy Conflict:struggle between opposing forces Ex: man vs. nature.
Symbolism: style using symbolic images and indirect suggestion to express mystical ideas, emotions, and states of mind. Ex:dove is asymbol of peace.
mood: temporary state of mind. Ex:being grumpy from lack of sleep
Direct characterization: the character details authors explicitly describe. Ex:“The patient boy and quiet girl were both well mannered and did not disobey their mother.”
Indirect characterization: the process of describing a character through that character's thoughts, actions, speech, and dialogue.Ex:" Jane yawned while looking very tired this morning".
