Sound - Coggle Diagram
Sound
What is it?
Sound is a vibration that moves like a wave.
How is is made?
Sound is made when objects vibrate.
How is it being detected?
Sound waves are detected by the fact that the waves can cause objects to vibrate.
How does it travel?
Sound travels through air but it goes faster through liquids and solids.
How do we measure sound and what is its unit?
Sound is measured by sound intensity and volume, the units for is called Decibels (dB)
What matter can it travel in
Sound waves travel through a medium such as solids, liquids and gases.
Can sound travel in space?
Sound can not travel though space because there is no air in space.
How does sound travel through air
When a drum is hit, the air particles next to the drum skin vibrate and collide with other particles, and this vibration is then transmitted through the air.
How does sound travel in liquids and solids
They move by vibrating molecules in the matter.
Does sound travel the fastest in air? or in liquid ? or in a solid?
Sound travels faster in solids rather than liquids and air.
