Camera mechanics
FOCAL POINT The lens is nothing more than a finely polished piece of glass that bends light so it all converges on a single focal point. Light travels slower through glass !

PENTAPRISM a five-sided prism that deviates light from any direction through an angle of 90°, typically used in single-lens reflex cameras between lens and viewfinder to present the image the right way round.
OBJECT The lens will flip the object's image onto the film. Because of the angle the light hits the glass, rays from the object that hit the edge of the lens bends more sharply than light that hits around the center. The light then converges on the film on the far side from where it started
History
-
The use of photographic film was pioneered by George Eastman, who started manufacturing paper film in 1885 before switching to celluloid in 1888–1889. His first camera, which he called the "Kodak", was first offered for sale in 1888

Definiton
A camera is an optical instrument used to record images. At their most basic, cameras are sealed boxes (the camera body) with a small hole (the aperture) that allow light in to capture an image on a light-sensitive surface (usually photographic film or a digital sensor).
