LGBT+ Youth and Social Media Communities
Social climate
there is still a lot of homo and transphobia that runs rampant in the world :
The same is true of the bullying they can receive both in person and online.
We all want to provide for the young and give them a better world.
lead more people to the communities available to them but also to remind people of the humanity within these communities.
meant to build on existing recognition of these people and help them get the message of inclusion out.
LGBT+ Youth
They have worked to create communities that provide each other with support and safety.
Kids should not have to survive poor circumstances just to be allowed to exist.
Being isolated and feeling that nobody understands them is harmful to them.
my heart goes out to all the teens and preteens struggling to understand themselves
I also learned that there are more adolescent LGBT+ kids than I had thought and they can greatly benefit from having access to these resources.
Human Rights
Finally the work that they've put in is valuable and important. They have fought to create spaces for themselves and those spaces should stand as a monument for future generations to know they are cared for and supported. (the idea here is that they deserve to have this work preserved)
Kids should not have to survive poor circumstances just to be allowed to exist. Everyone deserves to have access to the resources they need and the support they need without having to fight their entire lives just to earn their existence.
Social Media Paradox
I explore the positives and negatives of these arenas especially as they relate to young LGBT+ people
Positive

Negative
The same is true of the bullying they can receive both in person and online.
