Alcohol: high lvls of consumption can cause HTN, moderate use can be protective

lifestyle changes: diet (salt, fat reduction) & exercise, quit smoking, alcohol moderation

Older adults: aging causes arteries to lose elasticity resulting in higher systolic and unchanged or lower diastolic
Pregnancy: gestational HTN after 20 weeks, eclampsia: >140 BP multiple organs effected, high risk for complication for mother and baby

normal <120, elevated< 120-129, stage 1: 130-139,
stage 2: >140
