Islam and the Environment
The Environment has become a subject of interest in secular civilizations in recent years.
Charles Darwin is one of the most important enviromentalists of all time, his teachings changed the world.
Before Darwin, evironment was describes as "creation"
Quran encurages people to explore and learn more about the envirnment.
it is a blessing from Alah, but it is not only materialstic gift, it is also a gift of knowledge.
it is not about conquesting and conquering the nature, it is about living in symbioze and respect.
Creation in Quran.
The Lord has created everything, and also set measure for everything.
Ecoogical balance is an importatn term in the text. Ecological balance can be only reached if we cooperate with the other living organisms on Eart.
The Qur'an tells us to examine history for examples of people in the past who misbehaved and were destroyed as a result.
I found this very different from the story of Genesis. It is a helpful tip for general audience.
The Trust
All of the reading seems to go over the same concept of trust.
Given by god, represented by people? is it really?
People are easily blinded by the lust for power, which causes us to engage in some acts we wouldn't do otherwise. It is important to see the big picture even in situations like these.
Each one of us has a responsibility to use what little power we have to make things better, not worse.
We should live economically and not use more than we need.
Islamic Economics
I do not like the reasoning behind the first question in this passage.
Original Islamic economy was based on the trade - people would trade good for other goods, not neccessarly relient on the money.
International economics became too monopolyzed, and the lust for money and property causes harm to the Earth.
Economy should always honor the nature as it has in the past.
