Current process for existing customers
Product search is time consuming - due to the volume of obsolete products in stock check system
Product images will come usually from supplier website or other distributor sites
if not on our own site
The customer could obtain different prices if an email request is sent to account manager and customer services simultaneously and both respond without internal communication
No follow up is made on quotation to chase down the business, no value is captured of our quotation pipeline
Two or three different products may be quoted for depending who is doing the quotation
at present Email quotations contain no lead-time details, this would aid the management of delivery expectations on behalf of the customer, thus reduce calls into the office
stock volumes cannot easily be seen at the time of quoting
Are we sure applying the Matrix GP is then giving us a competitive market price
Descriptions of products are not always clear, historically due to system naming restrictions
Price and product consistency
Pricing Matrix works to a degree, but does not take customer spend into account
Individual customer terms would give further consistency terms based on A,B, C customer type, would need to be identified for core product categories
Agreed core rage will aid product quoting consistency and avoid back orders if stocked lines are consistently quoted
on picking a product A, it would be good to show alternatives if we have stock outs on particular lines
Should we regularly benchmark a basket of products against key competitors. This would enable some aggressive promotional activity if required to move volume
Iif customer terms are predefined, there still needs to be the ability to manually adjust margin if required
The ability to see overall margin on a basket of products
What do we want to achieve and where will it add value
Simpler and faster quoting process
Consistency in style and presentation to the customer
Create quotation pipeline and convert quotes to sales
Create revenue stream from quotations
Automatically build in delivery charges for minimum orders, automated based on quote value
Less time spent quoting is more time actively selling and calling customers
Move away from paper based preferred stock list, move to a centrally manged database system that is maintained and unto date
Reduce the duplication of information, thus reducing the margin for error
Other systems that will possibly aid and support advanced quoting system
