Also in South America there was an empire called the Incan Empire. They were located in Peru, but soon expanded all the way over through Ecuador and Chile. The had a Emperor and a central government. They had 4 provinces that was ruled by a governor. They had farmers that grew maize, peanuts, cotton, potatoes, and tomatoes. They weren't as advanced as Europeans, but they built roads and bridges, without the use of animals. They didn't have a writing system, but they stored information through ropes and knots. Francisco Pizzaro, a Spanish Conquistador, later conquered the Incan Empire.
