NEP 2020 HigherEd
What is significant in NEP-2020?
Only two kinds of institutions will remain: Large Multidisciplinary Universities (MU) or Autonomous Colleges (AC) in next 10 yrs.
No HEI (Higher Ed. Institute) to have <3000 Students over next 15-20 years
MU Research Universities with heavy focus on research
MU Teaching Universities with low focus on research
Autonomous Degree-Granting Colleges (AC)
with focus on UG teaching
Multi-disciplinary Institutions (MDI) is the only option
What will happen to standalone Engineering, Law, Architecture, Commerce, Colleges?
Existing 40,000 Colleges either need to merge with Universities or become Multidisciplinary AC. Managing their work flow and processes will require ERP Support. :red_flag:
No institution will serve only single stream.
All existing Universities to open more departments to become truly MDI.
Accreditation to be MANDATORY
Will be linked to Funding for public institutions
Could be linked to research funding even for private HEI
Facilitating accreditation process for HEIs, guiding them through the process, and helping them move from one level to next will be a big business opportunity. :red_flag:
Even the Accreditation Agencies will benefit by having an ERP System to monitor and engage with all HEIs. :red_flag:
Multi-disciplinary institutions are complex to manage
Need ERP Support. At present, not available to most.
Costly + not customized for academic requirements.
CBCS, Accreditation requirements, and conversion to larger units will push need for Good Academic ERP systems.
:red_flag:
Faculty and Leadership training will be another big area of opportunity.
CBCS (Choice-Based Credit System)
All students in all degree or diploma programs will be allowed to credit courses from any department or even outside university (MOOC/other nearby University)
Credit Transfers and tracking credits for each student to ensure degree requirements are met is a huge task requiring ERP support :red_flag:
Individual students will also need to have a platform to see all available courses, its prerequisites, and a way to enroll in any course :red_flag:
Further, courses may also be chosen outside one's own university, either MOOC or at nearby university. That adds additional layer of complexity.
Journals and Library Resources: Single Integrated platform :red_flag:
All Universities form a consortium & negotiate prices with publishers as one entity
Pay Minimum fixed cost + Variable Cost (per download or use)
Big boost to univ. research by making latest research accessible
Faculty Training and Support
Existing: Centralized Curriculum with little flexibility
Future: Individual departments and faculty members will have flexibility to create and offer new courses
At present, faculty not trained in pedagogy or in curriculum design . This can be a big part of business opportunity. : :
ERP Systems do not support faculty and department in managing this workflow of design, approval, and offering of course :red_flag:
No option to map program/degree outcomes to individual courses, sessions, and assessment components. This can help in big way in accreditation. :red_flag:
